Mix the audio with music
Mix your music or another audio with of a LECTURNITY recording.
Switch to the LECTURNITY Edit View. If you want to manipulate its structure (like cutting) you should do so now before the background music is added. Otherwise the music would be cut, too. Then export your audio as WAV:
Now you modify this audio file with another program. One example is the freely available Audacity. After modifying your audio save/export it under a new name.
Now import the modified audio file into your project. It will be used instead of the old audio.
Finally export the modified recording from the Edit View in order to obtain a new recording with the new audio.
Change video resolution
Change the width and height of a video after recording it with LECTURNITY.
You may easily change it in the Edit View by specifying the desired video resolution in the export settings:
Open the "Export and Preview settings...". Here you can modify the size of the video according to your needs.

Export this project as a new LECTURNITY recording. Make sure you use reasonable video settings for the Codec. You can find more information on this topic in the document Video Settings.
In most cases, it is not advisable to increase the width or height of a video. This would only decrease the perceived quality as the video image becomes more coarse grained. Additionally this procedure increases the size of the video file considerably.
Filter video and other video manipulations
Edit a video recorded with LECTURNITY separately, i.e. with a custom filter.
Some modifications to your video can be made in the Editor directly while editing the document; like shortening and cutting. If you want to do more you have to use an external program. You find the video file created during a recording in the same directory as the recording document itself (LRD file). This video file has the file ending avi and apart from that the same name as the LRD file. The AVI format is supported by most video editors. You can load and edit this file with an external video editing program.
After you finished editing you must replace the original file with the new version. Please make a backup copy of your original video file prior to editing it externally! Please keep in mind that you do not alter the frame rate or length of the video (i.e. with cutting) as this will most likely result in the loss of synchronization between audio and video (e.g. the lip movement does not correspond to the audio).
Record audio and video externally
Record an audio and video separately from LECTURNITY and combine them with the slides afterwards.
It is easily possible to add an audio and video to an existent LECTURNITY recording if you pay attention to a few requirements.
Requirements: The video must exist in the AVI format. The audio in this AVI-file must be an uncompressed PCM stream.
If you want to import a DV video, please make sure that it is a Type-2 video. These videos contain audio and video in separate streams. Type-1 videos, in contrary, contain one combined stream. Furthermore, Type-2 videos contain the audio in an uncompressed format suitable for the use with the Editor. Most DV recording and editing programs allow for choosing between the two formats. You can find out more about Type-1 and Type-2 DV videos FAQ Video recording 1.6.0.
Synchronization: If you record audio and video externally, you must make sure that they are in synchronization with the slides from LECTURNITY. To achieve this, use the following technique:
- Create an emtpy slide at the beginning of your document.
- Start your recording with LECTURNITY first and then the audio and video recording. Here make sure you see the first slide change in the video or at least yourself doing it. Take your time as unwanted passages can be removed later on.
- Continue with your recording as usual.
- Stop the recording with LECTURNITY as well as the recording of audio and video.
- Look for the point of time of the first slide change in your video. Write it down as exactly as possible.
- Open your recorded LECTURNITY document in the Edit View and search for the first slide change.
- Now remove the additional part at the beginning of your recording so that the time span to the first slide change matches that of the video.
- You can now import the externally recorded video (containing the audio). The result should be synchronous slides and video. You can verify this with the help of the first slide change which is visible in your video.
- Now trim your recording as desired. You should at least remove the (empty) first slide.
- At the end choose an appropriate video codec and export the resulting recording.
